Blog, what is my positioning?

Why Blog?#

  1. Promote oneself in a cheap and simple way;
  2. Meet more talented people compared to reality and let more people know about oneself;
  3. Improve one's thinking and communication skills (this requires communication);
  4. Bring in new traffic and customers, and traffic and customers can convert each other.

How to Build a Successful Blog?#

  1. Continuously update it persistently, with at least 1 post per week, so that at least 52 posts can be produced per year;
  2. High-quality content that benefits oneself and others will bring rewards. Value exchange is the key;
  3. Each article should be able to solve at least one problem.
  • Think about those people we willingly pay attention to. Don't they all have their unique value in a certain field? Self-promotion is about proving one's value to others.
  • Telling others "I am the coolest blogger in the world" is not beneficial to oneself, but if you can help others solve the problems they encounter, they will think you are great.

Having recognized the benefits that blogging can bring and being inspired to build a successful blog, the next question is👇

What to Write?#

Since I entered university, the phrase that has had the greatest impact on me is "problem-oriented".

Think about it, no matter what people do, they always have a purpose/need, which is actually to solve a certain problem.

Everyone, at every moment, definitely has some problems in mind, more or less. Since the purpose of a blogger writing a blog is to promote oneself, it must be aimed at attracting people. Since people are more willing to pay attention to those who solve their problems, the answer to "what kind of content should be written" is: the tricks and methods to solve problems.

This is more helpful in achieving the goal.

If you feel like you have nothing to write, the best way is to jot down these problems whenever you encounter them in your daily life, make a list of questions. This way, you will always have a bunch of topics to choose from.

If you really can't come up with anything, then turn what you have recently learned into technical documentation or something similar, and record it.

The path of blogging can be simply summarized as: discover problems + find answers + collect evidence + share = provide value.

My Principles for Blogging (This section will be updated irregularly)#

The following are the requirements I have set for myself:

  1. At least 1-2 posts per week, spending 3 days on each article (develop the habit of checking, revising, and supplementing);
  2. Clear positioning, the following are the contents I will focus on in 2023:
    • Knowledge management
    • Classification, logical thinking
    • Personal management system
    • Learning writing
    • Efficiency
  3. Try to be 80% open about oneself and verify "what is lost by doing so".

It's 2023, the Disadvantages of Blogging#

Blogs are like countryside villas on the Internet, and platforms are like city squares on the Internet. It's 2023 now, and it's the era when Internet platforms (Douyin, Bilibili, Xiaohongshu...) dominate traffic. Even if the content of a blog is exquisite, it may not be comparable to the traffic of an ordinary content creator, because most people live on Douyin, Bilibili, Xiaohongshu...

Even the aroma of wine is afraid of deep alleys. Blogs, this kind of thing, may be more like a resume. Blogs are a niche celebration (low traffic). If you really want traffic, you should promote yourself on major platforms to expand traffic.

Perhaps this is just a resume. Isn't it?
