  • 5th consecutive successful journal entry, 5th consecutive day of exercise.
  • 3 days of exams, 4 days of cost estimation (plus today).

  1. Be cautious in choosing your competitors, because in the end, you will become very similar to them.

Always studying who, envying who, you will imitate the behavior of who, and in the end, you may become who.

  • First, don't treat idiots as competitors.
  • Second, don't look for opponents around you.
  • Third, choose the top people in your field as role models.
  1. Choose role models who are far away

The objects we imitate can be divided into the following two types:

  1. People who are far away from us.
  2. People around us.

The former can inspire people, and due to the difference in time and space, we are almost impossible to catch up with them; the latter is likely to become our opponents in our eyes, and a tribe can only have one chief. Choose people who are far away from us as role models, they will not arouse our competitive and selfish desires.

You can choose great people as role models, such as Premier Zhou who said "Study hard for the rise of China".
You can choose the top people in your industry as role models, such as the Tsinghua study god who films self-study vlogs.

  1. Play the role of a great person

If you were Elon Musk, how would you make decisions when faced with a problem? The most common question is, if you were Elon Musk, what would you eat in the morning? Or if you were Yu Minhong? Or if you were Confucius?

Okay, the real purpose of playing the role of a great person is: to think like a great person!

I believe everyone has had this experience👇

For example, children have all played role-playing games, pretending to be a knight/princess/hero. This state is like integrating the soul of a hero, and a mysterious power emerges in their body. Subjectively, it seems that he and "before possession" are two different people, and objectively, his power will continue to flow.

The inspiration of great people to ordinary people is huge. Although we cannot reach the level of great people, it does not prevent us from climbing towards the direction of great people.
An ordinary person, or a person who is always unhappy, if he can always worship a great person unwaveringly, he will definitely reduce many low-level troubles and easily free himself from vulgar information.

Therefore, it is worth asking yourself a question every morning: Who do I want to play today?

Once you do this, believe that you already have 50% of the power of a great person.

There is another story about Musk's breakfast that can be shared. Once, when Musk was on a business trip in China, instead of going to a hotel, he bought a pancake from a roadside stall. Whether from the perspective of saving or being down-to-earth, Musk is an admirable person.

This Week's Sharing#

I am not only seeking results. If you only seek results, it is easy for people to take shortcuts. In the process of taking shortcuts, people will easily lose sight of the truth, and even lose their enthusiasm. I think what is really important is the pursuit of true will. As long as you have the will to move towards the truth, even if you fail this time, you will eventually achieve your goal.

This paragraph is excerpted from a blogger's memo in 2010 on Zhihu.

A process-oriented life may lead to better results, and establishing a process system is particularly important.

This is also one of the reasons why I decided to publicly record my daily exercise. Another reason is that I saw a girl posting her intermittent running of 7km+ every day, and seeing someone achieve it is the most motivating thing.

Why do you have to insist on posting screenshots online? Because the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.

  1. Connect with the world and attract like-minded people.

  2. Force yourself to become a better person.

Sima Guang's "Zizhi Tongjian, Volume Six" has a passage:
King Anli of the Wei Kingdom asked Kong Bin, who is the greatest scholar in the world?
Kong Bin said: "There is no perfect gentleman in the world. If we have to settle for second best, then Lu Zhonglian can barely be considered one."
King Anli shook his head and said, "Lu Zhonglian may not even be considered one. This person is inconsistent in his words and deeds. His behavior is forced and not a natural expression of his true nature."
At this point, Kong Bin said a classic sentence: "To continue to act is to become a gentleman."

Kong Bin meant to say, "People have to force themselves to do certain things. If they continue to do so, they will become gentlemen; if they continue to do so, their habits and nature will gradually merge, and they will become natural."

You can say that someone is pretending, but this is just a process. The process itself is the result, the most real and not a shortcut.

  • Ran 4km once
  • Finished reading two English novels "Magic Tree House" 1+2
  • 1 short story "An Extraordinary Life"

Notes on "An Extraordinary Life"#

Inspiration: The importance of clarifying the correct concept of time and changing life goals.
Summary: It tells the story of Yuri Beshchev's time accounting. His concept of time is "Apart from time, people have nothing. Time is the only asset of human beings." For more than 50 years, he has been recording the "expenditure" of time every day without interruption, and the content of the records is "event + category + time spent". The difference is that his records have no reflection or details, only objective bookkeeping.
Such a strange person has achieved extraordinary achievements. His extraordinary life is closely related to his clear goals, being able to clearly invest events into the most important things.
Clear goals + event classification + objective data + periodic summaries (changes in efficiency, what has not changed, why...) - measurable results + objective self-analysis.
The above is my personal insight.

It is said that happy people do not look at the clock (not bound by time).

  • Lack of knowledge of classification.
  • Do not show off, it is "unnecessary action".
  • Reduce "tools" and control the number of apps.
